👕 Young Entrepreneur Spotlight: Pepper Lively – Pep N Grams T’s

If you prefer reading, we’ve included a shorter version of the transcript below, keeping the most interesting parts of the interview.
Let’s jump right in!
Pepper Lively is a 13-year-old entrepreneur and the founder of Pep N Grams T’s, a business she started when she was just 10 years old—with help from her grandma! She custom-designs shirts, water bottles, baby clothes, bags, and more using vinyl designs. She even makes party decorations!

This year, she started a brand-new product line called Dream Journals. Each dream journal is a handmade sensory book with a cover that Pepper hand-draws herself. Then she binds the book and adds her special glitter sensory mixture right on top of the drawing. It’s colorful, squishy, sparkly—and totally unique!

What’s really cool is how Pepper got started without needing a lot of money. Her mom had already bought a Cricut machine for her own business (she wanted to make sticker versions of her art), but it didn’t quite work out. So she let Pepper use it! At the same time, Pepper’s grandma had already been selling vinyl shirts to her friends and sent her some extra vinyl to get started.

What makes Pep N Grams T’s really stand out is the fact that they custom design vinyl cutouts for each customer—and many of the designs are hand drawn by Pepper, which makes every piece one of a kind.
Even though Pepper and her grandma live in different states, they co-own the business. Her grandma sells products in her area and in a small local store, while Pepper runs the website, blog, and handles sales in her own area. They promote the business through word of mouth, markets and events, and their website. So far, one of the best ways they’ve connected with customers has been the young entrepreneur markets hosted every spring at Pepper’s school.

Of course, running a business isn’t always easy. One of Pepper’s biggest challenges right now is simply getting the word out—something a lot of entrepreneurs can relate to!
Her main goal for the upcoming year is to keep developing the Dream Journals and grow that part of her product line. It takes time, especially since she hand draws each journal cover—but the results are worth it.

👀 Our Take
- We hope you’ll go check out what Pepper’s doing—especially her custom products (people love that!). We honestly think offering custom options is a must-have nowadays.
- We love that Pepper’s grandma has been helping along the way. We truly believe it’s important to have an adult’s support and guidance when starting a business at a young age. Learning tools and knowledge from someone more experienced—like Pepper does—is such a smart way to grow.
- We also think it’s awesome that Pepper already created her own website. Having a website is a great way to talk about your products, share your brand, and express ideas that go even further than the product itself.
🎧 You can always listen to the full interview anytime on our website.
📝 Each month, we’ll feature a young entrepreneur or an inspiring business story. If you’d like to be considered for an upcoming edition, fill out our written interview or contact us. It only takes a few minutes, and we’d love to share your journey with our community.
✅ FREEBIE – What to Say at a Market (Without Making People Uncomfortable)
We saw a reel recently that really made us think. The seller in the video was standing at a market, kindly saying things like, “Here’s a mirror if you’d like,” or “Let me know if you need anything”—but oftentimes, the customer would quietly put the item down and walk away.
At first, we were surprised. Why? The seller wasn’t being pushy at all!
But then we started reading the comments… and realized this is actually pretty common. A lot of people shared that as soon as a seller talks to them, they feel pressured—even if they were about to buy something. Some even said they want to support small businesses, but end up walking away because it just feels too awkward.
That made us think.
We’ve always loved chatting with people at markets—laughing, sharing stories, showing how we make our cards—but we get it now. Not everyone feels comfortable being approached right away.
That said, we still believe there are a few simple things you can say to keep the interaction light and friendly—without making anyone feel weird. And especially as kids, we’ve noticed that people are super curious about how we got started and often enjoy opening up to us!
We even discovered a powerful little trick that can make a BIG difference (don’t worry, it’s in the guide 😉).
So, we put together a free PDF full of simple, helpful tips on what to say at a market—without making anyone feel uncomfortable. Be sure to read till the end for our very best advice!!
