Our AdVenture
No checkout counter. No cashier. Just a simple cupboard filled with our handmade cards and a box where people could drop their payment. It felt risky at first—what if no one bought anything? What if someone took all the cards without paying? But what happened instead surprised us: people not only bought our cards, they loved them! Some even left extra payment, and others told us how much our cards brightened their day.
Putting something out into the world takes trust—but when you do, amazing things can happen. And in that moment, we realized we had something special.
At the time, we were living in a small Swiss village, surrounded by local artisans selling their handmade goods right outside their homes. We loved the simplicity of it—the way creativity and community connected so naturally. Inspired, we decided to try it ourselves. We filled our cupboard with greeting cards for birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments. And one by one, people started picking them up.
That year, we gave our little business a name: Solia Creations—a mix of our names, Solène and Zélia.
When we returned to San Francisco, we carried more than just our love for making cards—we carried the idea that a small creative business could bring people together. This time, we wanted to do something even more special. With the help of our friend Ed, a talented woodworker, we built a beautiful wooden display for our cards. It felt like a little home for our creations, a place where our designs could be shared with the world.
But as we kept growing, we realized something important: we weren’t just passionate about making cards. We were passionate about the process—coming up with ideas, learning new skills, figuring things out as we went. And we weren’t the only ones. We started meeting other young entrepreneurs, just like us, who had big ideas but didn’t always know where to start.
That’s when SoliaVenture was born. More than just a greeting card brand, it became a way to explore what’s possible as young entrepreneurs. It’s about creativity, business, and the adventure of building something from scratch—together.
Our name has changed, but our heart remains the same. Every card we create carries a story, a moment, and a piece of our journey. And every person who supports us—whether by purchasing a card, following our story, or sharing it with others—means the world to us.
